Long story short, bought a 14 JKU in July of 14. Loved the Jeep. Put a small lift, 285s, some A-Pillar lights, and a sound system in her. I repeat, i loved her. Then in March of 16 the leaks started. She went into the shop 8 times for repair over the course of 9 months. No luck with fixing anything, Jeep customer care was a joke as well, and i finally had enough and traded it in for a Camaro SS this past January.

Since Jan. i have avoided this site like it is the plague lol. Until today... I have really starting to miss my Jeep over the past month or so. Not the leaks or the crappy customer service from Jeep, but everything else that is Jeep. The customization, jeep being naked, going anywhere, etc.

Now the thought of trading my Camaro for a new JKUR has been crossing my mind. Am i nutz? I spent HOURS of time i will never get back just trying to get a leak fixed on my last one. (In my defense, the leak soaked my seat belts and i couldnt even buckle up without getting wet) Yet i am thinking about it again.

In my hobby (playing guitar) we have a thing called GAS, Guitar Acquisition Syndrome... Am i just having JAS? I don't know what to do. I even thought about waiting until the JL or JT is released and getting one but what if they dont look as cool or perform as well? I have all these questions with no answers lol. Anyway, feel free to offer advice, or tell me I'm crazy, or whatever you feel lol

Sorry for the long read!

Flipping the Camaro for a New Last run 2017/18 JK is going to be difficult unless, you have cash.. I can almost bet when the snow and bad weather comes 1 of 2 things will happen, you'll either report in sick cause the Camaro can't make the snow or you'll total the Camero attempting forge the snow etc.

I'm sure you know this but you are going to take a big hit on the camaro.
Cars have always been heart-driven for me. The heart wants what the heart wants and we only get one go-around in this world.
I'd think about it for a while, don't be rash, but I think we both know what you need to do. ;)

Well first I should say i live on the MS gulf coast so it has been about 20 years since the last snow. The Camaro was a good deal on a nice low mile used car so i am sitting okay on that. Which doesnt help with this scenario lol

The Jeep has lead to my bi-polar disorder. Allow me to explain.....

I hate almost everything about my Jeep and yet I simply can't imagine life without it. It is the most fun/highest resale piece of crap I have ever purchased and I absolutely love it, but I hate it, but I love it, but I hate it.......
Lol this is where i am at. I thought i hated her enough to let her go but turns out either i am just wishing i woulda gotten one more piece from her before i let her go, or i want her twin sister, or something like that. The twin sister is a little wilder though. My 14 was a sport s, if i get a new one it will probably be a rubi because i want the 4.10 option and the locking diffs

Then I don't see the problem. :D
Well, by "okay" i have a little equity. The wisest thing if i where to get another one would have been to have lived with the leaks and move on. But i truly feel like the leak issue with mine was on the extreme end and not the norm. The general consensus tended to be "what, the hard top is leaking that bad???" Followed by me saying "yup, i thought the same thing" lol

I have had three different JKs. Both hard top and soft top. One with the hard top purchased after the fact. None of them have leaked. I knows its a common issue. But that doesnt mean it will automatically happen.

So get another one! Chances are it will be fine. I went without a Wrangler for a bit. Will never happen again as long as they keep making them.

Every vehicle has its lemons. There is no guarantee the next one you will have won't leak. Maybe on the test drive take it through a car wash. Would be well worth the $8. Just make sure its not touchless. Those powerful sprayers can penetrate about anything... even my hardtop leaked.

As far as having a Camaro, I'm having mine restored. I get the best of both worlds. Why not choose both?

A wise, Jeep-loving friend at work once told me:

"heavy rain days are ideal for Jeep shopping- you can see if it is wet inside, you can see if there is excess condensation, you can see if it leaks during a test drive"

Mine was sitting in the showroom rather than outside on the lot, but :don't want to jinx things: so far so good, and I live in the rain belt.

Traded my 2013 JKUS for a Mini...worst decision of my life! Came back to a 2017 JK after about 7 months. Worth the extra money in gas and potential water leaks to know I can go anywhere at anytime.
