Local dealer quoted 700 bucks for the labor to re-gear my JK to 4.88's. This is providing that I buy the parts ( I assumed I could get them cheaper than what the dealer would charge). In your guys opinion, Is that a good price?

I wouldn't have done it at any of the shops I worked at for that, so I'd say it's a pretty good deal. FWIW, many shops have a different labor rate for guys that supply their own parts. If that's the case with your shop it may be cheaper for them to suppy everything. This has the added benefit of only having one possible place to blame if something isn't right. If you buy gears from somewhere else and pay them to install them and something goes wrong the shop will blame the gears that they didn't provide and the gear supplier will blame the shop that did the install and you'll be screwed.

:D The only "good" price is one that you're comfy with--

If a DEALER wants $700 bucks to do both diff,/w warranty and all fluids-

I would consider that a decent price--

I'd recommend YUKON gears and rebuild kits/w bearings and thats gonna cost a little more-check with forum vendors for best price-

Average time for a good mechanic is 6 hrs a diff !!
