My 05 Rubicon is pretty much stock but I would like to put a winch on it for the occasional mishap. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'm looking for direction from y'all. What capacity would be sufficient for just occasional use? Also, what would be a recommended bumper to attach it to? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something to yank me out of the mud once in a while. Thanks.

At least 8k pound. You can just get a winch plate and use the stock bumper

I have a 2006 Rubicon and my needs from a winch are very similar to yours. I kept my original bumper and mounted a Warn M8000 winch (you will also need a winch plate to mount the winch to the bumper). It is a pretty easy installation and I believe the 8000 lb. is plenty for my needs. Good luck.
