Need your opinions and advice...

Looks overpriced to me. Price is definitely driven by the market in each area so research what else is available and pricing.

Yea I definitely agree with you on this one! IMO looks way overpriced.

I thought it was wayyy over priced too but the blue book says 9500. He went there today and talked to the guy about trading in his car. He owes a little more on the car than whats its worth and the guy told him he'd take the trade and make the price for the Jeep $10,200 out the door. For a '97 I still think that sounds a little high, but man its pretty much spotless and very low miles considering the year. After searching locally it seems like the price is about average compared to the other asking prices. Majority of the early and mid 2000 models are marked at around $15000. Found 1 '98 with asking price of $9800. So....

Think I remember Jerry commenting on how much he liked his '97 compared to the newer one he has now and would like some insight on a comparison of the newer ones and this one.

I think it is overpriced, but it is incredibly low mileage and extremely clean. I would have to lose that bling called the wheels, though. Just my opinion.

I agree about the overpriced. That is a lot of chrome.

Low miles. Probably not abused, or "off-roaded". I'd say he's got a pretty good base to start with. Grab it up, I think it might pay off.

Seems to me that it is priced too high. It is clean, but it is also 14 years old. I would keep looking. I picked up mine that had every service record since it was new plus both tops in the Sahara Edition for a few thousand less than that and it is a 2000. Miles were about double, but it is in like new shape.

I own a 97 wrangler and I bought mine for 5100 up here in Washington. Granted it had 112k on it and I have no idea what prices are like in Florida but 11-12k is a lot to pay for that year wrangler. Up here you could by a 2006 rubi for 12k that had just as many miles on it.

12000? Thats close to twice what most people on average are paying for their '97.

I will say that it looks squeaky clean and in better condition than most (from one picture). But I guess the real question is whether he's gonna feel like he made a good decision when he sees someone else driving down the road in the same car that they paid half the price for.

He needs to shop outside your immediate market, if that's the going price for your area... My '01 with less miles cost less when I bought it last year.... Perfect condition, no bling to have to replace.... auto, soft top, half doors...... just sayin'. He needs to sell his car himself so as to try to recoup some of his upsidedownness... And buy from a private seller. He'll get a better price, and not be upside down still. If he buys this one and has to sell soon for some reason, he's still gonna eat the difference between what he owes, and what it's worth...

I only paid 18K in 04 brand new. Want my 04 for 20K.

Maybe a bit on the pricey side,but... I know how it is when you get the ''wants''... Looks very clean,probably not been treated like if I had it... I know it's hard to sell a car when you want to sell one...And I've found good deals 500 miles away too..... If your friend is planning on keeping this Jeep for a long time,and knows what he is getting into with "our addiction'' I'd say ''GO FOR IT''!!! I'd rather be upside-down in a Jeep than drive a car ANYDAY.....Just ask my insurance agent!!!

Is he going to need to finance it? He may have a problem getting loan on that old of a Jeep.

With that few miles on it, I'd grab it in a heartbeat and if he wants it, he should go for it also, especially if he plans on keeping it. Who gives a rats rip about how old it is? Only 11 more years to go to be a classic already.

Definitely take it some where and have it looked over from top to bottom by someone very mechanically inclined, if you or your friend isn't.

I do my best to wheel and deal with them on the price still too. Always have that option.

It looks clean, although the chrome and stickers would have to go. If it runs excellent, it's worth that much money. But I mean excellent and with complete service records.

'01 4x4 Cherokees around here book for about $2k, but are FLYING off dealer lots at over $11-grand! Yes, ...eleven grand. Price depends on demand. So many old Jeeps were destroyed during Obama's "Cash for Clunkers" program that demand is still artificially inflated and prices remain firm.

My position is that if you find an old Jeep you really like and is in excellent shape, buy it. It would not surprise me if the value of this one went up in the next 10 years.
