I am in the process of making the following upgrades to my Wrangler:
1. OME 2.5 heavy duty lift
2. SYE kit
3. Tummy tucker (raising T-case up)
4. 15" frame and wheelbase extension

My question is: For this small of a lift, do I need new rear control arms?

yes, you'll need new rear upper and lower control arms for two reasons - 1. you'll need to adjust the pinion angle for the new CV driveshaft, 2. you want to extend wheelbase for some reason.

the TT will give ~2.5" of t-case lift in addition to the 2.5" coil lift....for a total of ~5" of effective lift.

what are you plans for extending wheelbase 15" ?

Thanks Unlimited! I will shop around for new CA's. As an interim, can I hold off on the TT and run the 2.5" lift without CA's?

I am converting my SWB into a TJ-6 with an Unlimited top.

go with www.savvyoffroad.com or www.rokmen.com for short arms.

yes, but theres no sense in buying control arms twice. when you extend the wheelbase & modify the frame, you'll need to move the control arm mounts. if you intend to keep short arms, then you can reuse whatever short arms you buy. if you combine the wheelbase extension with a long or mid arm upgrade, you'll need to buy or fabricate new arms of proper length.

Thanks again, Unlimited. Although, the plan was always to stick with the short arms. The main reason I am extending the frame and wheelbase is to effect a longer body for added cargo space. Plus, I think it would be a fun project!
