I am looking at a 1997 tj 4 inch lift really nice 4.0 auto 120k miles. New to jeeps what can i expect from the reliablity and parts brakeage? I will be using it as a daily driver. Does everyone use them as daily drives and long trips. Anything i should look for on it? Thanks All

Welcome to the Forum

Of course you should always look for the usual stuff like rust on the frame and floor pans. Take it out on the highway and see how it handles and what kind of power it has. Make sure that the 4WD is functioning properly. For more suggestions, we need a little more info about the Jeep. What kind of lift, axles, gearing, tire size, etc.
Personally I always recommend buying as close to stock as possibe when looking at used Wranglers. With a Jeep that has been modified, you never really know what you are getting and if the modifications were done properly.

Sorry about the missing info what i know it has 3in skyjacker and 33 second owner no rust hard top and new soft to new candy apple paint very nice looking and the mech stuff oils and stuff i know. What i am wondering is can you daily drive and take on long trips if you want are they comfortable to a point. And what fails the most on these. An what is a fair value on it new tires and all the goodies.

I drove my first Jeep when I was 4 years old on my Dads knees, it was a 53 Willys, I've been hooked for life. I am biased in saying that a TJ as a daily driver is perfect because I have been in Jeeps my whole life. My point is, you have to sacrifice some level of comfort to drive what you love. Sure a cross country trip would be more comfortable in a Cadillac but ask yourself how will you feel behind a leather wrapped heated wheel with a lumbar messager waving at a Jeep that gives you a blank stare. LOL! You have to "drive" a lifted Jeep. The on-road mannerisms are different than most vehicles. Its an experience, that's why the phrase " it's a jeep thing" is so popular! Don't sweat mechanical issues, parts are cheap, they are easy to work on and if you have a gremlin, most likely there is a thread on here to help resolve the issue. As for a price... Too hard to say by me without seeing it. Personally I would be hesitant to buy one re-painted much less lifted already.

Thanks i have f250 powerstroke now and it is no cad that is for sure. The paint was something they did as a perferances. I really trading off the powerstroke fpor the jeep to go exporing and enjoy. Oh course you give you hauling large stuff but how often do you do that. And the diesels are expensive when they break that is a fact. Just looking for advice on the little problems that pop up at 120k range,
