So after much deliberating with myself over whether to buy a JK and ditch my TJ i literally stumbled on this 06 Rubi LJ on my way home from almost buying a JK. An hour later... Mine.

LJ ='s best of the best of the best of all the Wrangler models in terms of functionality and looks. Smart move bypassing the "JK".....

Thanks guys! I'm so stoked right now. My TJ was awesome it just needed too many little things and such high mileage and was nickel and diming me to death. This LJ has 33k on the clock. 6" long arm. I might need help identifying the brand because it's been painted. 6 spd. 9000lb warn. Full size spare... Ive never seen the bumpers before. Need help identifying those too. I'm assuming it's geared because it's way too peppy for having 35's.

looks like you have fab fours front bumper, can't tell on the rear

suspension is probably gonna be tough without better pictures of the arms and joints

it appears you have an antirock on the front of the Jeep, which is an offroad sway bar.

Good looking LJ Rubi.

Would def need more pics of the suspension to help idnetify. It looks like the upper control arms are mounted to the lower control arm mounts on the frame. Is this correct or am I looking at this wrong?

I can snap a few shots here in a couple hours when the detailers finish it up. I asked politely to remove the yellow autozone seatcovers and goofy 4x4 "brush stroke" decals. The PO went a little nuts under the hood too with painting the engine and accessories... Oh well.

That does look a little strange with the LCA mounts still there.. Always thought that was removed when using long arms

That suspension geometry is kinda crazy. I zoomed in on the first picture...the front uppers are using the OEM lower CA mounts. Aftermarket mounts were welded to the frame for the front lowers. The front lowers have an extreme bend in them, presumably to clear the upper arms. So, not only are there looooong arms hanging down, but they bend toward the ground. This is not going to be fun offroad.

The rear looks to have a similar setup with welded on lower CA mounts and what look like Rubicon Express arms. The OEM upper CA mounts are still in place, so judging by what was done up front, I would guess the rear upper CAs are tied in there.

It looks like there is some plating on the side of the frame just in front of the rear lower CA mount, perhaps for extra support.

Basically, that suspension is a hot mess. It can be fixed, but I'm surprised you can drive it straight down the road.


The bumpers are both FabFours.

Guessing it probably has a Warn winch under the Warn cover.

They welded steps onto the OEM Rubi rocker guards....don't put too much weight on those.


The upside to the suspension is that it can be fixed. The great thing is it's a Rubi LJ. Doesn't get better than that.

I was thinking that I saw this correctly. That was my first impression when looking at the suspension. I was also thinking the same thing about the front lower control arms. It looks like they bent the lowers so that they wouldnt hit on the OEM brackets like you said.
The Lower Arms at downward angle and Upper Arms are at a upward angle. This would really cause the arms to work against each other. I really having a hard time understanding what the PO was thinking on the suspension system.
