Just saw the new bumpstops from Metalcloak. Looks like a real option to the others that require more work to install. These look more progressive than factory. Might have to give them a try. The guy at Metalcloak said they require less bumpstop extension. Anyone try them yet?

I almost ordered a set on their free shipping but thought I would wait and see.

They have been testing them for a while but just shipped the first orders last week. Looks like TF has something like that for the JL. I am going to put off my bumpstop extension change till I decide.

I was excited to see these and decided to order it last Friday. I was hoping to get it installed this week but it’s still in “processing” status. Kinda annoyed. I don’t know why it’s still not shipped. It said in stock and ready... this may delay my install.

Metalcloak has the slowest shipping of any company. they apparently have no inventory and everything is made to order. My buddy waited 6 or 7 weeks for his lift and it was the standard GC lift so you think they would have parts on the shelf for popular stuff. When he ordered there was no free shipping and then a few weeks later he saw they were running a promotion so he called to see if he could get free shipping and they said he would have to cancel his order and reorder and go to the back of the line if he wanted free shipping. Great stuff tho just slow getting it.

ouch. yeah, you would think they have some lifts on shelf. 6-7 weeks is a bit long, especially since their shipping is not free (normally).

speaking of free shipping, I saw the free shipping on monday as well. I was debating on calling them about it, since I ordered it the friday before. but I figured i don't want to complicate the order, and I don't mind paying for the shipping as long as it gets here this week (based on the UPS calculations).
But turns out, I may or may not get it this week. I didn't realize I had to also consider processing time. bummer. Being married and having a toddler and a newborn, I dont have the luxury to install anytime. I have to pre-plan these things :) Hence, annoyed.

Anyways, Metalcloak has been great with customer service and their products are top notch, but they gotta work out their shipping process better. I look forward to peoples review here.

On a side note, I ordered the mopar front jounce pads from Quadratec literally the day before (thursday) I found out about the durosprings. So when I check the order status on quadratec to see if i can cancel it, it was already shipped by friday! and it was free shipping. It's sitting next to my desk as I write this. :)

update: After communicating with the sales and tech support about this shipping situation, they will be getting it to me by Friday afternoon! I want to say thanks to Metalcloak for making it happen. As I mentioned earlier, their customer service is awesome!

I received the Durosprings last Friday, as mentioned. so thank you to Metalcloak for that!

I bought these because I needed to replace my front pads and have been meaning to install a shorter bump stop.
The Install was pretty straightforward. Rears were super easy. Fronts, well that took some time. I removed the springs and replaced the TF 2.75" bump stop. Then, drilled a hole to mount a bump stop at the bottom pad. It really didn't help that my floor jack died before even beginning the project, and my drill battery was so old that it wouldn't hold a charge long enough. :rant:

The ride quality feels much smoother. But, I think the bigger benefit was removing the 2.75" bump stop. I've only driven to and from work, which is pretty flat and smooth. I'll be looking for more speed bumps and dips to test out the progressive property of these Durosprings.

Metalcloak said that it compresses to about 1". Which can be treated like a 1" bump stop all around. So take that into consideration when adding bump stops. You can also see that it is about 1" taller than a stock jounce pad.

My GC lift was delivered in a week, but that was 4 years ago.

I just received these as well. I doubt I get them installed for another week or so though. I am doing a lot of small projects on my Jeep so these are kinda on the back burner.

I was told buy the guy at MC that 3/4 inch of bumpstop spacer could be removed when using these over the stock ones due to these don't compress as flat as the factory ones do.

Example: I have the Falcon 2.1's and have a TF 2 3/4 inch spacer with factory bumpstops and still have about 1/2 inch of shock left on a hard bottom-out. So with the MC bumpstops I remove 3/4 inch plus another 1/4 inch so a total of 1 inch removed taking my spacer down to 1 3/4 inch spacer. More spring travel.

If I changed to the Falcon 3.3's I could remove almost another inch of spacer. Some of MC's shocks would allow almost all the spacer to be removed. One problem,,, the tire would rip off the factory front fender flare. Bumpstop extensions protect shocks and fenders. Having too much removes valuable spring travel.

Maybe that's why the guy I spoke with said "about an inch". 3/4" is about an inch. The guy didn't give me an exact measurement.
However, when you look at the gif in their website showing the full compression, I eyeballed more than an inch, not less (3/4"), comparing it next to their 1" bump stop pucks that it is compressing on.

Do you have to drop the axle and take the springs out to install these, right? Is is easy pulling the old bumpers out and getting the new ones in?



I like the look of these, and I like Metalcloak products. I don't like taking the springs out, I just put my 1" spacers back in because of some spring sag. Using the spring compressor and taking them out is one of my least favorite things to do.

Do you not just pull out the old bumpers and shove these into the cup that holds them? Seems like you should he able to do that just by drooping enough to be able to fit your hand and the bumper through the turns of the spring.

I read that some were able to replace it without pulling the springs off. I removed it because I had to drill and remove the giant 2.75 bump stop. The rears are super easy.

The actual jounce pads came off easily and was easy to push in the durosprings.

I have these on their way. I was told "about half an inch" lol. Im hoping its closer to 1/2" than 1". I dont really need any extension, just wanted a little more cusion before bottoming out.

The compressed length of my Falcon 2.1's is 17.8. the MC twin tube shocks compressed length is 15.9. That is an easy 1 3/4 inch more compression travel. Even the falcon 3.3's have a shorter compressed length than the 2.1's.

Does your Jeep regularly articulate enough on flat and smooth roads enough to actually make contact with your new bump stomps? Confused...

I thought the same thing. We have rough roads in Montana but nothing that will cause you to hit the bump stops even driving the speed limit.

TF already has a new style replacement bumpstop for the JL and they are working on one for the JK. It's a pain doing the fronts as the coils have to be removed.

Here in Calif we have pot holes that will wear out your bump stops. We have extra gas taxes to fix them but if you think that is where the money is going I have a bridge to sell you.
