I am re-building a gently used '93 YJ. 5 speed, 2.5l 4 cyl. Stock axles. Just put on 2 1/2" RE lift kit, with 1'shackle lift. Now need larger tires. My question:
31x10.5x15 vs 32x11.5x15? Planning on running 9" steel wheels. Any input appreciated. Thanks!

W stock gears... 31's... also take the shackle lift back off.... if you need the inch back go w a 1.25" body lift

Last, personally, I would stick w 7 or 8" wide wheels

I like my 31's with a 2.5 in lift and 4.10 gears, not crowded in the stock wheel wells at all. Had 33's at one time but not enough lift to clear on the bouncy, bouncy. 32's may be a stretch for your 2.5 on the highway, but I could run em on mine with room to spare under the fenders

Those are P255/70R18's(which are 32's) off of I believe a JK on there now, with wheel adapters. They work for now, but don't like the look. Planning on going with a black steel wheel.

The smaller wheels will give you more rubber and a little smoother ride, Plus offroad you can air down for better traction without damaging those pretty lowrider wheels

I went with the shiney American Racing just because they were what my best friend from high school ran on his YJ when He bought his new off the lot back in '89. We thrashed the hell out of that thing. He still swears it's his old one whenever I send him pics. I wanted one so bad back then, but little kids required a more practical vehicle back then. Hence my username. Got it at Last. LOL.

Cut your fenders and put some 37's on there. Ha ha. Probably not what you are going for. Really with the lift you have and stock gearing 31's would be best. I do agree that a 9" wheel is too wide. Some people like that look, but it will not allow the tire to perform as well off road.

Nine inchers are too wide. I have 31s on 8" wheels and no problems. If I'm not mistaken, the stock wheels are 7". With the 9 inchers the bead is more likely to pop off if you air down for certain trail conditions and it's harder to seat the bead when mounting the tires.
