Not sure if this is the best place to post but here goes.

Want to get a Jeep and found what I think is a good vehicle and was hoping for some insight, tips and comments from a few jeep owners. First, I heard that the 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited Rubicon engine was improved upon and had some power / torque issues (low power) but was improved upon in 2008.

Second Jeep I am looking has the following:
They are asking 31k I was thinking lower but what could one expect to get the below Jeep for?

2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited Rubicon 4 doors
Low Miles: 36,750
Excellent condition no scratches
clean title, no damage
Only taken for light off road a few times
cloth seats
gray body
black hard top
Soft top
Custom air filter for more air flow and dust
KC drive lights
power windows and remote key entry
Cd player after market Garmin w/ built in mount
5x new 35" custom tire with about 750 " road miles"
AEV premium custom front bumper
Warn 9000i wench with 100'+ of wire rope
AEV rear bumper with water reservoir with water pump
AEV rear tire carrier
Complete skid plates
Rock slider boards
Terra flex diff covers
3.5" lift
AEV G2 front axle with 4.88 gears
Double/dual air compressor under hood
electric Anti corrosion
Air actuated sway bar from inside cab
Custom roll bar with multiple Velcro handles
class III trailer hitch with two balls
Plus a few other minor upgrades.

Thanks. I was thinking 25k tops. Perhaps that is to high. or is it better to just go for new and add several options but this quickly takes it to around 36k but then you have warranty, etc, etc. Is the 2007 a year with any problems or concerns. And are there major upgrades through 2012 that make the price difference worth the price. The modes sure are nice ... :)

thanks all for the feed back. I like Pluke's JK ...2012 for 31k. what options did you get or add?

just my 2cents but I agree with plukes2 comment you can buy new 1 at 31k add mods as you go I have the 2012 jk 3.6 auto the only reason for me to buy the 2012 was 285hp verses 202hp I have driven both and power diff is worth the 2012 plus you look at a 5yr old jeep the mods are eye candy and cool but not worth that kind of money IMHO yes a new 1 at 31k 5yr 100.000 mile engine&drivetrain 3yr 36.000 bumper to bumper I would go new and add mods as you go good luck on purchase Joe.

I bought a 2007 JkU with 32k miles and both tops for $20,700 in October. Showroom condition. Ur price seems way steep. Remember mods = wear and tear

I don't know. If the price is right and in great condition like you say- I would take that 07 any day.
The "new engine" and it's whopping 30% more HP would in no way deter me either
The regear is important and expensive. Does he have receipts for the work done? AEV parts are worth a pretty penny new.
What 10K plus in mods? If you can get it at book you win :thumb:

Get him down some, forget the 12 :D

No receipt for the mods. Looks great and no visual wear and tear on the Jeep or parts. Pulled the wire rope out and it looked new. little details like this and no scrapes on the underside lead me to believe this is a good fined if the price is right.

I looked at a new tricked-out Rubicon and the 'call to duty' and with all the factory upgrades on the web and it took me to a MSRP of about 41.5k. If bought new I should be able to talk them down if one finds it on the lot to about 9-10% below MSRP or around 38.5k. and a few mods and we are talking 41k.

For me the pluses after all the excellent input (thanks :) ) for the new are: warranty, more power, no past history concerns and sounds funny but heated seats ( equals warm buns :) ). The negatives: price.

The old 2007 jeep pluses: just flip the categories above with the real point being the price savings and it's ready to go.

Aghhhh to have to deal with such choices..... Thanks again everyone. Any final thoughts?
