It'll come with factory paint on it but probably it great quality. Is it worth painting or using any of the undercoating products to help prevent rust?

Dont drive it on salted roads. If you live in the rust belt and the old one rusted off the new skid will outlast the rest of the jeep so dont worry about it.

The only undercoating that is worth the trouble is oil based. I have used Fluid Film, Wool Wax and homemade stuff with bar and chain oil, grease and parafin wax. The homemade stuff is by far the best for undercoating. I used to spray my Toyota's down every fall with the lanolin stuff you buy by the gallon. It eventually washes off and you have to re apply.

Last fall i spray on stuff i mixed up myself in a crock pot and it's still there. It makes working under the truck a nightmare though because if you touch it it's on you. But it's either that or rust so i dont complain, at least my Toyotas have not snapped in half.
