With all of the bad luck I've been having recently on installed due to missing parts, broken parts, etc, I decide to open up the winch (VR8000( that's been sitting in the garage for a month since I hope to install it this weekend.

Anyways, all the parts seem to be in the kit but I'm curious about one piece in particular.

I have 2 of what look like black, plastic caps that look like they should go on something. I don't see them listed in the parts list anywhere.

What are they?

Also, really dumb question here....

I can't figure out how to mount the control pack to the winch. I have the mounting bracket but no matter which way I flip it, it just doesn't look righ.

Where do I attach the mounting bracket to the winch?

Going to bed, but here is where I'm at on the parts check. Any help would be appreciated as this thing comes w/ zero install instructions.

Here are my parts:
Auto part Passive circuit component

From top to bottom:
4 bolts to attach winch to mounting plate (and why are the nuts square)
2 bolts to attach fairlead to front of mounting plate?
2 plastic "caps" - no idea what these are
2 small nuts/washers - no idea what these are for

And still trying to figure out when the control module bracket attaches to the winch.

The square nuts go into the legs of the winch. they should slide in and the winch holds them from spinning while you tighted the bolts from the bottom.

Two big ones are for the fairlead. Not sure about the extra nuts/washers and plastic caps.
Yep, I look at where the bolt go into the bottom of the winch and I see where the square nuts come into play. I was thinking the holes were threaded. Thanks!

Just got off the phone w/ Todd at Warn.

The black plastic "caps", along w/ the 2 small washers and nuts, not used for this application. Apparently the hardware kit is universal and some parts aren't used.

I also got an answer on where to attach the control module bracket to the winch.

Would have been nice if all of this was covered in the install sheet, but oh well.

I think I'm all good now.

Almost done attaching the winch to the RC mounting plate.....almost.

All I had left to do was to attach the fairlead to the front of the mounting plate. Issue is that the bolts that came w/ the winch are too big (wide) for the hole in the front of the mounting plate.

Before I drill the holes out I wanted to check to see if anyone else had run into this and see if possibly I was doing something wrong.

thanks
