Hello! Im new to the whole upgraded jeep world, but fortunately after 1 year I was finally able to get my 2014 JKU a 2.5 inch rubicon express lift, some 35 inch Nitto Trail Grapplers and a smittybilt oversized tire carrier. I was planning my next upgrade to be a bumper and winch combo to be able to pull myself out of the mud if i get stuck badly (Im down in south texas and wheeling is mostly deep slushy mud). However, after doing my research and learning about my jeep, Im not quite sure what I should save my money to upgrade as I am an 18 year old college student and having money to upgrade my jeep doesnt come too easy. I learned about locking differentials, regearing, axles, etc. and I dont really know if my next upgrade should be a winch and bumpers. I know for a fact I wont really worry about my 2.72:1 crawl ratio as I really only deal with extremely muddy trails and 0 rock crawling. I know that eventually I will have to reagear as my 3.21 isnt gonna be very good to stay with. In my dreams im thinking of 4.56. I also would like some lockers (at least in the rear if i cant do front and rear) like the rubicon has where I simply press a button and theyre on. I know my JKU comes with a DSA Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle, which i read is somewhat like a limited slip, but i would like something much better. I also read that having the Dana 30 in the front with 35s isnt very good either. I was thinking that for these upgrades that nobody can really see I would save up so that I could have a regear, axle upgrade and possibly locking differentials installed at the same time to minimize cost. Not sure if thats how it would really work tho. Point is that although I am more of a weekend warrior, my JKU is my DD and I DO NOT want it to be a mall crawler. I want it to be a badass jeep that I can wheel without worrying about it failing or something breaking to bad. This is why the whole axle thing scares me :S Anyway, I am pretty new to all this stuff, so any of your experienced wheeling knowledge is appreciated :) Thank you!

Not sure how to edit an existing post so heres an edit:
By not wanting my jeep to be a mall crawler and "upgrades that nobody can really see" I mean that I want my jeep to be fully trail capable and a strong beefed up beast where it really matters. Id rather spend on the things that matter underneath rather than light bars and a snorkel that I will never really use, even if she doesnt catch everyone's attention because she looks rather simple.

You shouldn't worry too much about your d30 front axles per your offroad preference. At least gusset the axle C's since your already running the heavy nitto's.

Balljoints, axle C's and for peace of mind ... sleeves (i'm not a big fan of sleeving though). you don't need to truss as well.

A regear will also help since your running 3.21 gears.

Welcome to wranglerforum. Enjoy your new jeep.
