i have boiled my tire choice down to nitto trail grapplers (35") or the wrangler mt/r with kevlar (35").

price:
nitto: $314 each shipped (amazon)
goodyear: $296 each shipped (4wd.com)

seems like the cost of the tire is almost a moot point.
edit: ok maybe not. 4wd has goodyears cheap and there is a 80 mail in rebate

the one thing i am curious about is the goodyear tires are 64lbs and the nittos are 80lbs (from what i am reading now).

the things i am concerned about are quality of the ride, noise, performance, and any MPG impact (besides the obvious of going to 35s). can anyone chime in? i need to pull the trigger tomorrow.

Which size mt/r ? 315/70/17 or the 35x12.5 17
The first one is a D and the second is a C load range. Both almost identical in size.

The MTR/K are tough as nails but the asymmetric thread makes them hard to balance and keep balanced. The Grapplers are a more traditional tire. The weight of the tire will certainly impact your MPG. If you want details search for a thread on tire weight which has an in depth technical discussion.
