Hey everyone,

Hope y'all well, I was wondering if someone might recognize or know what might be causing this noise from the front right of my JK. It disappears when I slow right down to halt and starts up again when accelerating/wheels in motion. I'm going to take it into the garage at the weekend but I would like it if someone could give me some idea what it might be that's causing the noise.

Apologies it's not the best audio but it's the best I could get under the circumstances.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Hi Jeepshot75,

Sorry to hear about this! If you end up deciding to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.

Jeepshot75,
It is hard to make out the sound but I will tell you that I have a funny sound coming from my front end as well at high speeds especially when in back of a truck. My mechanic tells me it is parts underneath that arepicking up the draft which is why it is especially bad when following a truck. He says he can fix it but would have to take off the old parts (some sort of flaps) to reconnect them better and they could break and then we have to replace them. He says it doesn't hurt the jeep the way it is. Be careful when you go to the dealership. I was complaining of the excessive oil I burn and they wanted to take my entire engine apart to find the reason when they already knew the reason. The older engines are the problem. So I just keep adding oil every 2000 miles. Cheaper than a new engine.

Thank you for all your replies.

I waited a couple of days to post as I didn't want to jinx it. After 2 weeks of hearing this irritating sound I was driving home from work 2 days ago and the sound just stopped. Touch wood, it hasn't come back and I hope it doesn't.

I had new brake pads fitted front and rear 2 months ago but the sound only started 2 weeks ago. I'm still clueless to what it might have been and why it's just disappeared like that.

But the main thing is I'm not embarrassed driving jeep anymore and I'm now looking forward to having an AEV 3.5 lift and 35 duratracs installed next month ! :)
