Alright, instead of asking the same old lift question, I would like to ask those peeps with 4 bangers to tell me about their lift. :D

What are you using? Tire size? What did you do to add more power? And what would you do differently if you had to do it over again?

my first yj was a 4 banger. i eventually had soa w/ 2" springs, 33" tires and that thing did awesome off road, with all that room, i still stuffed the tires into the fender cuz it flexed so well. and i drove it daily most of the time.

definately a dog on road, but tolerable. top speed around 65 mph. the problem is you can't step up that much with gears, the manuals already have 4.11 gears. i actually put 4.56 in the rear because they shipped me the wrong gears once, and i really didn't notice it on the street. you can go to 4.88 on aftermarket gears, but thats it for that axle.

don't bother getting more power out of that motor, nothing is gonna really make it noticeable, especially for any cost. i've heard 4.o throttle body helps. personally i like the motor, its a horse. but the 4.0 is a whole new world.

go spring over with 33's and you'll be happy its not a racecar but it will get you there dont waste your time or money on add a leafs just take your time and do spring over like like dave said the 2.5 will last and the 35 is pretty limited. i have a bored out 4.0 throttle body on my 2.5 and it helps a little but i'm movin to a stroked 4.0(will be a4.5) and 35's with 4.10's and an 8.8 it will be my daily driver so a i might get a set of 33" all terrains for driving.......it really depends on what off roading you do and how often but so far all ive heard is SOA is the way to go the ride is better its tall and it flexes a lot

I have a 4 banger in mine and running 33's. It does fine on the highway I just dont use 5th gear much. I agree with the soa is the best way to go. I have a 2" add a leafs and a 2" body lift, it looks good but it beats the crap out you on bumps. I too will soon be taking that crap off and going soa when I get all the parts I need. Good luck!

I run a 2.5 to. 4 inch procomp springs(flex like crazy) nice ride. 1" body lift, SYE, tom woods rear driveshaft. 33" tires. good offroad not great on the street. Engine mods I have done are: cold air intake with k&n filter,opened up the 2.5 throttle body,TB spacer(waste of money),electric fan,high flow cat.,and a flowmaster exhaust with a series 40 muffler. this winter I plan on swapping in a 8.8 in the rear,chrome moly front axles and 4.88's. SOA is the cheapest way to go. It used to be real popular when lifted springs had no flex to them but the technology has came a long way in the last 5 years or so.

Thanks for the input guys.

Im thinking of doing a 2 inch BDS lift with 1 inch shackles and possibly a 1 inch body lift. I think if i stick to this size lift for now i can avoid re-gearing at this time.

Do you think 32" tires would look good, and what width do you think i should run on those tires since im not regearing?
