Hi guys, I recently picked up a 2018 JKU and am wanting to get it out for some beginner wheeling. I've read about Hard Rock off road park in Ocala and wondering if I can take a stock JKU sport out there and do some trails, or is it to much for a stocker. Also any info on some novice to moderate trails in or around North FL would be appreciated.

Yes there are a few good trails in Hard Rock, but if wet be careful.

First and foremost, do not wheel alone. It is a long hot walk back.

Join a club and let them share the trails and fun with you and the experience is priceless. Check out the Ocala Jeep Club for one; https://www.ocalajeepclub.com/

A couple of places to visit with others is:

Citrus - https://myfwc.com/hunting/wma-brochures/north-central/citrus/

Goethe - https://myfwc.com/hunting/wma-brochures/north-central/goethe/

Lochloosa - https://myfwc.com/hunting/wma-brochures/north-central/lochloosa/

Ocala - https://myfwc.com/recreation/cooperative/ocala/

Osceola - https://myfwc.com/recreation/cooperative/osceola/

And many more....

Don't go alone and find others in a club that will know about the VERY specific rules for these forests because if you are caught doing something wrong it can be a $550 ticket per incident.......... Yep!

I go out as much as possible and have been doing these areas for 25+ years and can tell you that you will have a lot of fun and see things you can't forget and the friendship will be priceless.

Thanks PapasJP! I know we've got a local Jeep club but I'm not sure if they do any wheeling. I'll definitely check them out and also the Ocala Jeep club. I appreciate the info and hopefully I can get my new rig on the trails soon.

The OJC does monthly trail rides for all levels of stock/mod Jeeps.

And Jeeptoberfest is an adventure you don't want to miss and additionally you will be proud to be part of it with the charities we give help to.

You have a Jeep, go out and explore, see what it and you can do to enjoy it, yourself, and life.

I'll be headed that way as well when the weather cools down. Waiting for new wheels and M/T tires, as well as a couple of very light mods. Can't wait.

I am not sure where in N Florida you are at, but there is a Jeep club sponsored ride at Osceola Nat Forest tomorrow. There will be a group of us leaving out from the Yulee FL Raceway at 0800 tomorrow morning and we are caravanning out to meet up with the host club.

Dtopford. I appreciate the heads up but I generally work weekends and without any notice it's hard for me to get away. I am right by Yulee and would love to go on one in the future with a little notice. I'm following a thread in the Northeast FL section and will be going on a September ride hopefully. I need to join and monitor the Ocala Jeep club and try to get in on more with them in the future.

If you are in Yulee check out 8 FLags Jeep club. I am in Callahan.
Also there is some good close trails out in Cary State Forest off of 301.

Yeah I've seen the 8 flags jeeps around town and looked at their website. Looks like they're more into beach driving than off-roading but I'll probably join anyway, always good to meet more Jeepers. And I will definitely check out Cary. Thanks for the heads up!

They are a very social club, and yes they also do beach driving. However we had ten Jeeps that ran out to the Osceola ride last Saturday from that club. The club is kinda come as you are and do what you want kinda club, but its a great way to get to know some people.
We have not joined the club yet, but most likely will. There is also a club called Top Jeepers who hosted the event and they are very active. Living where we do beach driving is just kinda a given however check out Cary, but bring a friend because people do get stuck out there LOL.

Don't go out to Cary or Osceola alone..... it is a LONG walk back.

There are some little muddy spots out there that will swallow your Jeep.

Not to mention they are a wet forest....
