Hey guys,
Does anyone have experience swapping the NV3550 with a NSG370? My understanding is that it pretty much just bolts straight in, the splines and bolt patterns are the same so they mate up with the motor and transfer case. The only modifications you need to do is relocate the CPS, splice/relocate new plugs for the electricals, and shifter location is a bit different in cab so either do some cutting or buy newer trim pieces from the later TJs.
What im not sure about is if its the same transmission mount, clutch slave, clutch and everything else in the bellhousing, and if its the same overall length so it wont cause issues with the drive shafts. Im also not exactly sure on the best way to go about with the CPS senor.
I know a lot of people here arent too keen on the 6 speed, but im in desperate need of a new gearbox and this one is newer with half the amount of mileage at 2/3 of the cost of the 5 speeds i have been finding. It would also be nice to have the lower 1st gear for offroad, and i imagine if i ever decided to sell it (God forbid) that it would increase the resale value, especially since the gearbox has 1/2 the mileage and 5 years newer than the rest of the Jeep.
Any help or advise would be much appreciated, I just dont want an nasty surprises giving me additional expenses or keeping the Jeep of the road for longer.
