The Stay The Trail Ambassadors have been focusing our efforts on the Yankee Hill trail system outside of Idaho Springs. We have identified a few areas that need immediate attention before the snow really starts falling.

On the 13th, we will be rebuilding some fences and intall signage where other OHV users have decided to travel off-trail. Clear Creek RD will be joining us for part of the morning and we want to show them just effectively the OHV community can gather to help repair the damage done by some bad apples. Everyone is invited to come help out. The more hands the better!

Oct 13 - Yankee Hill - Round 4 (Clear Creek RD)

Where: Fall River Road Exit off I-70. Look for large gravel parking area.
When: Saturday, October 13. 9am.
Please let us know you can attend by RSVPing.

Over the last few weekends, we have identified a few specific issues that we will be working with the Clear Creek RD to help resolve them. There are a few buck and rail fences that have been moved or taken apart. We need your help to permanently reset them and helping install some new signage in other areas.

What to Bring:

DRILLS.
We need as many drills and extension cords as possible. Bring your charged, cordless drill OR corded drill. We will have a small generator and some volunteers with powerful inverters. We plan on rebuilding the fences using timber screws instead of nails.

WARM CLOTHES.
It may be chilly up there. Gloves, hats, etc. We will be out of our vehicles doing work for about 2 hours.

LUNCH.
At the moment, we don’t have any sponsors lined up to provide lunch. Please pack accordingly.

We hope to see you on the trail. If you have questions, please email us at [email protected]

Hmm, was going to do the Moody Hill or Barbour Fork run, but might join in on this. I have a 20v DeWalt kit, 50' extension cord, miter saw, and circular saw I can bring.
I've done similar efforts back in Washington State at the Tahuya National Forest when I rode single track dirt bikes there. In a few hours we collect over 58,000 tons, yes tons of illegally dumped garbage throughout the forest. If we didn't go out and do that, that area would have been closed permanently to ORV's. Took my son with me, he was 7, and he loved it. He said "dad, we have to pick up the trash so the world doesn't blow up right?" I told him that's exactly right! lol

That might be fun if there's not too much snow on Kingston :)

I had a good time today doing this work. There was a great turnout from WF and met some other new great people. I was real nice to give a little back to the trail.

It sure was. Even in 35* weather with blowing snow most of the time it was great. Always feels good to know your doing work that needs to be done and wouldn't get done without us.

Should have some good pics coming from the run after the work, until then here are some shots of the work...
