I ordered some wheels from discount tire direct told the guy I wanted my new wheels and tires to go out more so he told me I needed to order the wheels with +18 offset they arrived today and by looking at them they look like it will set in onstead of out , is this correct and if so how much ?, everything I have now read said to go out I need a negative offset. lesson learned "do research before ordering "

I think you're correct that negative offset pushes them to the outside, but not 100% sure... You'd think the guy at DT would know tho'....... Measure the backspace on them. Lay one down on it's face and put a straight edge across it, then measure the distance from the mounting surface to the straight edge. That will tell you the backspace... It should be less than 5 or 6" depending on what you are putting it on....

Next time specify how much backspacing. Offset works if you know all the other spec of a wheel but backspacing is easier to deal with at least for me

Measuring Wheel Offset
If you know how wide the wheel is, then offset is pretty easy, but it does get confusing with neg/pos..... I agree that for a Wrangler, all you really need to know is bs, that's why I told him to measure it... :)

called them and asked questions and they told me the positive offset I got would be a couple of inches out from stock plus the wheels are wider so it should put the tires out to where I was wanting them , got them mounted and put on and they are just what I wanted so the guys at Discount Tire Direct were perfect in their recomendation .
