So after a long drive to San Fran and back, my wrangler developed a serious leak. Did some searches and checked the motor, everything was clean(apart from some mud). Looked at everything else and found 2 spots. The front axle breather tube some how disconnected from the axle and the tx case front output shaft seems to be leaking(its a different color from the other leaking fluid).

Told my service person at a jeep dealership. Also showed him the 2 pictures at the bottom of this post. He asked if it has been off road, when I said yes he said he will have his tech look at it and see if it is covered.

My question is: how does the axle breather come off from the axle(i have never disconnected my sway bar)? If anything shouldnt the tx case be covered?

tube can be pulled off fairly easy. But there is nothing to fix with it. other than your diff is probably over filled...

The t-case leaking at the front shaft is tough to diagnose... are you sure? Auto or manual?

I would of thought the tube would some how screw on to the axle housing.

My jeep is a auto. The residue on the front of the tx case is a lighter color then the gear oil coming out of the diff. So i assume its the tx case.

Jeep is at the dealer. Will know what it is by tonight or tomorrow!

If my dealer is to be believed, don't be surprised if they don't fix it. According to them, my front axle seal (driver's side) seepage isn't covered by warranty. The only way it would be is if it was actively dripping.

Find a new dealer. I just had a rear axle seal replaced under warranty, no questions asked and it definitely wasn't actively dripping, was just coated with some grimy gear oil residue.

Since your breather tube came off, is it possible you have water in your axle which would explain the leak? Might check if the shop didn't.

They checked the diff for damage. Resealed the diff(I can tell they did, mine looked sloppy with sealing material coming out of the side alittle) and filled it.

Does the tube really come off that easily?

Yes. It just pops on and off. You can put a small zip tie on it and cinch it down tight with pliers.

Your breather cap might be clogged. If it doesn't vent, the hose can pop off from pressure.
