New to the jeep world here. So I have a 1985 CJ7 with a Inline 6. Had a pretty bad leak at the front of the pan where it connects to the water pump cover. I changed the gasket and put a little RTV at the 4 corners but I am getting a bad leak again. The pan is not I the greatest shape so I bought a new one and another gasket. This time I will replace the rear main since I am in there. Any other tricks I should know before I tackle this again?

Welcome to the forum.
I had an 82 cherokee with a straight 6. I also had a leak that I thought was the oil pan but it turned out to be coming from above and running down. It has been years since then and unfortunately the details have faded from memory. I would think even a less than perfect pan with new gasket would not give a bad leak unless it was really bad so that would prompt me to look higher.
Good luck
