I found a 2 wire connector under the dash near the steering column not connected to anything. I tracked it down in my service manual, but I can't figure out what it does. It's for the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Solenoid. I wanna say that its for an automatic transmission to sense if the brake pedal is pressed before moving the shifter from park, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Yes thats what it is for. Jeeps all come from the factory with the same wiring harness, makes it easier for them to hook everything up. My 97 has a 2.5L engine, and I have about 6 connectors for sensors and options that my jeep never had. hope this info helps
