Hey all. My jeep is a 99. It's white and it's starting to show signs of wear as far as the paint goes. It has little tiny areas of rust, no biggie, but i think I want to go ahead and get it painted. I think I've decided that i want to do this myself, and i want to go with either a flat black and a flat military OD green. I'm wondering who out there has experience with using spray paint to get this job done. If so, what brands? And also, what kind of prep is involved? I understand that prep is at least equally as important as the actual painting. I'm looking for some help/ideas/comments here guys.

I manage a auto body shop been dining this for a few years. Prep is 90% of the work. U have to make sure the areas are well scuffed for adhesion. The rust has to be gone or it will bleed through. Another options is to do a vinyl wrap a normal pro paint job on a rig is about 6-10k u can get wraps done for about 2500 or so. If you have any questions ask I would love to help.

Heres what i did my man, take off everything on the body you can. Invest in an orbital palm sander (electric pneumatic w/e floats your boat) 800 grit pads for YOUR sander (make sure that the application is right. Sand down everything lightly just enough where it become cloudy make sure u sand down any rust to bare metal (prime it right away)any suspect areas or chips.. bondo sand it prime it now this is a personal choice to prime the whole jeep or spot prime.. personally me.. i spot primed (i did a spray paint rattle can job what do i care? F prime just a waist of money to me) But if your doing a fancy dancy paint job prime the ever loving hell out of it. And well painting.. Practice makes perfect if u paint with spray paint to perfection you can use a paint gun.. Heres a picture of my end project. I have from begining to end pretty much step by step if you would like to see it.
