Like other (most) 13 year old TJs, some parts on my rig have began to oxidize, peel, chip, etc. I just removed my driver side mirror mount to paint and while I'm at it, I'd like to do my bezels and the rear hardtop hinges.
For the mirror bracket and bezels, I think I'm all set, a wire wheel, some 400 grit sand paper and a can or two of Rustolium and I should be all set. The main question I have is has anyone painted the hinges on the hardtop while they're still on? I don't really want to fuss with removing them and risk popping the glass, so I'm hoping some news paper, painters tape and a lot of patience will do the trick... Also, what color Rustolium most matches the flat(ish) black found on the TJ? Matte Black? Satin Black? I plan on sealing them with a coat or two of clear, but should I also plan on priming anything first?
Thanks
