A wire brush, some brake cleaner, and plastidip. That's what I did and turned out great! Been 8 months and not even a blemish, if it gets scuffed, peel it off and re-apply
Thanks for the advice. Where do you get plastidip? Is it pretty easy/foolproof to use?A wire brush, some brake cleaner, and plastidip. That's what I did and turned out great! Been 8 months and not even a blemish, if it gets scuffed, peel it off and re-apply
don't agree!! Blahh!! It holds up amazingly awesome. Obviously you have not used it. F KRYLON it's junk. Been there done that and it fades, cracks, it's junkGah...plastidip... Can you just use a can of krylon and forget the "just peel and reapply" hokum. Picture sitting in your driveway picking at that shit till your fingers bleed. Just a one second shot of krylon...touched up. Those tuner guys showed that to a guy with a jeep and the infection spread.
Any brand of paint is fine.If you go the spray paint route instead of plastidip, what do you have to do in terms of prep, primer, and what brand paint is best for wheels?
Do you have a pic of your wheels or a pic of similar from the net? I'm not sure which you are referring to.I've got my hands on an old set of steel 5-star Jeep rims, and I'd like to paint them black or matte black. Are there any secrets, products, and/or techniques that anyone can recommend for cleaning/scuffing the rims, applying a primer, and putting the final coat(s) on them? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
How did they turn out? I like those rims. Look good with many tire combos.
