JKU 2013- Pentastar- manual

Only if it's driven for a long duration (1hr), and usually only at 75-85mph will trigger it... first things start vibrating on the dash, then the vibrations get more pronounced- then ridiculous vibration buzzing and engine power is clearly reduced to maybe 40%, and the engine sounds much different, hard to describe- like it's running with some cylinders shutdown, but also a noisier but consistent sound, like a small 4 seater airplane propeller sort of.

Then if you shut it down, and restart it goes away. Usually no check engine lights, or other codes thrown..

Also strange is if you shut it down, it doesn't just turn off like usual, it noisily winds all the way down making the same propeller noise all the way down, as it is in neutral.

Once, it threw a CEL, the codes were related to an 02 sensor.

But it hasn't ever thrown a code since which was months ago. The problem is intermittent, and hard to replicate, on short trips it never appears.

Anyone have an idea?

JKU is all stock, 150k miles, original spark plugs still in.. I also think air filter is way overdue for a change.

Thanks in advance if it sounds familiar.

change your air filter then see if it improves, then book an appointment with the dealer to change your spark plugs!

That sounds belt and/or pulley related.

As nighowl2000 stated.. CHANGE the Plugs .. you're 50K overdue.. and it could be Belt/pulley related too.

Find a local independant shop - get plugs changed.

Wow, I changed my plugs out at 84k and they were damn near toasted. Meaning the electrode gap had enlarged quite a bit due to erosion. Yours might very well be close to the point where it can't bridge the gap to create the spark. Which would likely trigger limp mode.
