I just picked up a 1988 wrangler with the 4.2 and an automatic peugot trans. I Know there's a lot of information on the peugot to ax15 swap on here but I can't find any info on an auto Trans. I'd like to keep it auto, so my questions if there will be any problems I might run into, or is it the same as the standard Trans swap? Or is there another auto Trans that may work better for this swap?

I was told by someone that I Most likely had the peugot, but now I just read online that my year with the 4.2 and automatic has the tf999 Trans. I don't know if this is true. Does anyone know the reliability of these transmissions?

The Peugeot is a manual transmission, the tf999 sounds about right. If you go back to the main page there is a sticky that has that info about what these jeeps came with.

The automatic is tons better than the Peugeot; and if you did have the BA manual, everyone would tell you to swap it out for the AX15.

I would keep the auto and drive it till it drops, it should be fine.
