So I recently regeared and am working on using my old D30 pinion gear as a shift knob (from a 3.73 set). Trouble is, it's quite heavy even after being cut down and drilled out. Anyone know if the weight will cause any issue in the transmission? I have the NV3550. Thanks ahead of time.

You might jump out of gear on a rough up or downhill if it starts bouncing around. The weight might overpower the shift mechanism.

As promised, here are some pictures. I ended up cutting it down a lot more which really helped with the weight.

It's surprisingly comfortable.
