i put about 4 inches of lift on my yj not to long ago but didn't drop the pitman. i noticed that the xj pitman arm is dropped lower then the yj. i was just wondering if the xj arm can bolt onto my yj?

Typically from what I have been reading here over the years there is no need to drop the pitman even with a 4" lift on the YJ (despite kits coming with one).

I think you are correct a XJ Pit will work. I have 4" on my Yj and did use one. Though not sure if really needed. I know the TJ's don't need one, if you add an adj trackbar.

I can tell you for sure that the dropped arm for a YJ and stock arm from a ZJ are identical..

I replaced mine with the kit... make sure and get a pitman puller if you plan to do it. We broke two pullers trying to get mine off and that was with heating it as well.
