A couple of days ago I replaced the stock head unit on my JKU with the built in Alpine sytem, and man was that a big improvement in sound quality! I used a Clarion CX-501 with the HD Radio tuner, Sirius tuner, PAC Amp Adapter, and the PAC Steering Wheel Adapter and everything works great.

Sound quality is soo much better, you would have thought I replaced the whole system. The stock head unit made the system sound muddy and unimpressive, but now the highs and bass come through nicely and it so much cleaner sounding. I am truely impressed with that little 8 inch sub now.

Anyway, after pulling off my brand new upper dash to replace the radio, a few of the plastic clips that attach the upper dash panel to the dash itself broke. Does anybody have a part number for those little plastic clips? My dealer has been working on this for a couple of days with no answer yet. I did a search but didn't find anything talking about the plastic clips. Any help would be appreciated.

Update:

The dealer just called and said that they can't get those plastic clips separate. I will have to pay $180 for a new upper dash panel if I need those clips...WTF? I should be able to get these clips at the tune of $5 for a couple dozen. I have searched the internet for these to no avail. Anbody with some ideas or an actual part number?

I did try clipandfasteners.com and didn't find anything. The closest thing I could find were for a Toyota and it still wasn't quite right looking. I am gonna try a body shop tomorrow.

Me too

I recently took the dash apart to fix an issue I pointed out to the dealer on 3 seperate visits( even gave them the answer) and finally gave upand fixed it myself. I noticed that I was missing 2 of those clips that would go on top of the dash right by the tray. This was a dealer screw up, but my faith is less than positive in them right now. I will do some hunting as well and let you know if I find them.

I think I found them. This is for 2011-2013, the older JKs have a different clip. Part number is 6510407AB.

I have them on order and i'll know tuesday. They're like a dollar each.

Yep, 6510407AB is the correct part number for all the white plastic dash clips on 2011-2013. For some reason it's not a listed part number for the console.

I think it was $5.29 for a bag of 7. If you're removing your dash, you should probably get some of these in advance because those clips pop off and disappear so easily.

Thanks for following up on this. I ended up having to buy a new dash because my dealer and I couldn't find the part number for the clips and I won't even tell you how much a new dash actually cost. :nonono: Hopefully this info will reach save quite a few folks some serious cash and frustration. :thumb:

Wow thanks for those part numbers. A clip broke on the right side of the dash, near the vents in my brother's 2013. Might replace it now.

This might be a good sticky if they break that easily. I haven't gotten into this dash yet but I have a feeling I'm going to be buying these too.

I have taken my dash apart maybe 6 times and have not broke one. Wouldn't worry too much about it. My brother's dash does not rattle missing one.

I almost lost one the first time I took my dash out. Luckily it popped upwards and landed someplace where I could find it.

Buy a whole new dash? That is why people hate dealers....

No kidding. My TJ ended up with a broken clip but it didn't rattle so I was ok with it. As long as there's no rattle I'm good, I'm still going to be careful about it, plastic clips don't like me.

I wish I had your luck. First time I popped my dash off, six came off mine and 3 to 4 of those broke. The ones that broke stayed put into the slots of the inside dash, the ones that were still good popped off the dash panel and landed on the floor. At least I didn't lose any inside the dash to rattle around and drive me nuts at some later date.
