Question for all you experts.

I have what feels (to me) to be excessive play in my steering. Of course, I'm used to driving around my little town car (Honda), so I don't know if it's just a comparitive thing. My Jeep has a 3 inch suspension lift and 33" tires, if that makes a difference.

Is some play in the steering w/a lift normal or should I be concerned?

TIA!

According to your sig, you have a '94 YJ? Typically YJ's do not have alot of play in the steering (as say a CJ :D )but it's not ever going to be like your honda. Have somebody sit in the jeep and move the steering wheel gently back and forth while you examine the steering shaft, box, and front suspension. That will let you know where the slack is if there is indeed a problem. Post up what you see.

It might just be because your Jeep doesn't feel like your honda. try sitting still and turning the wheel slowly until you feel it grab and start turning the tires. That will give you an idea if you have any slop. If you have to go more than about an eighth of a turn before something happens then you need to look a little further.
