OK, I replaced my 02 sensor, bank one, sensor 2 per the PO138 code front pipe, down below the cat. I also replaced the gas cap, PO445(?). The Check engine light went out, it does seem to be running better, but still feels like running on 5.5 cylinders, definately down on power. This is a new 4.0 crate engine in a 2000 TJ. Without a CE light I'm not pulling any codes, so I'm wondering if it just needs miles to clear up, or how to find whats causing the continued problem. I'm still getting a smell under a load, only have around 350-400 miles on engine

Thanks

A rich gasoline smell indicates a bad 02 sensor to me... indicating a false lean condition which the computer 'fixes' by making the fuel richer... too rich... to satisfy the defective 02 sensor. My guess is the Sensor 1 of Bank 1 or Bank 2 which is commonly referred to as the 'upstream' sensor. A bad 02 sensor will not necessarily generate a CEL or a code.
