Looks like the steering box is leaking at the imput shaft. Would you suggest a rebuilt box or Lucas stop leak? Not a bad leak about 2-3 drops a week.

In general, any "stop leak" product causes the seals to swell and thus, stop the leak. Try putting a piece of rubber in lacquer thinner. Watch it swell. Then leave it there for a few weeks. The lacquer thinner will have evaporated and the piece of rubber will be hard and brittle.
The solvent in so-called stop leak does a similar thing. When the rubber seal dries out, the leak most likely will be worse.
The best cure is to either buy a new seal and replace it yourself or buy a re-manufactured/new pump.
If you don't have the time or money, the stop leak will put off the inevitable for a while, but be planning to replace the seal or the pump in the near future.

Good Luck, L.M.

Definitely try the Lucas stop leak first. Use a turkey blaster to suck as much of the old fluid as possible out of the reservoir and fill it with the Lucas. It worked for me.
