Power Steering loose

I have recently purchased a 1983 CJ7. I have just finished rebuilding the carborator but now when I drive I have noticed the steering is loose. I know the power steering box is located under the front bumper on the driver side but how exactly do I tighten the steering? Thank you any guidance would help.

It's most Likely a matter of bad tie rods and such. Lie underneath and have someone wiggle the wheel back and forth and you should be able to see if something is moving exsesivly
There's plenty of places where steering gets loose.

Check the ends on the drag link and the tie rod first. Those are usually where it starts and happen to be the easiest to fix.

Also check the rag joint on the steering column inside the engine compartment. Those wear out and allow extra play.

The steering box itself may be worn as well, allowing too much play in the steering.

It could be all of those.

yep

Ya, open the hood, grab the intermediate steering shaft that runs from the column to the box. Shaft joints should have zero play/slop in any direction. If it has any, the lower rag joint is (usually) rebuildable. The upper is not.
Best bet is to replace the entire shaft/joints with a quality unit from Borgeson or Flaming River.
In my CJ experience, this was the most common culprit of the symptoms you describe.
Of course as said in above posts, it could be any of the other items mentioned, or a combination...

HTH, good luck
