Hello,

I am the owner of a 1995 YJ Jeep Wrangler Rio Grande. Since one week, my power steering wheel has failed. It is still possible to drive although a little bit heavier. Sometimes it feels as if the power steering wheel works but most of the time I have to use a little bit more force.

Does this indicate that I have to change the whole power steering wheel or can it be something with the fluid?

Did you check the fluid level? On the power steering pump there's a little dip stick. See if its low and then go from there. Its possible your pump took a crap and may have to get a new one.

Don't feel bad mines acting screwed up to! It squeaks bad when I turn to the left. I haven't really looked at it yet but I hope its an easy fix as well as yours to.

If you up in the rust belt I would check the steering sector shaft. It goes between the steering box and steering column under the hood. I have had many jeeps from up north that had those joints rust up.
