Aloha all,

I wanna pull my 10th anniversary bumpers off of my 2017 Hard Rock and plastidip them. Is it a feasible task for 1 person to do alone? I’m guessing something like 80lbs a bumper.

Any/all advice or recommendations are always greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Bill

I would think that you should be able to handle that on your own. I was able to change my bumper to a winch bumper and put the winch on by myself. On my 2018, there were bolts that are attached to the bumper that will hold it to the Jeep without any bolts/nuts holding it tight.

Yes it’s a solo job. I have removed my recon (same bumper) and reinstalled 2x solo.

******* style:

Our aftermarket steel rear bumper is fairly heavy. I installed it solo by strapping it to an old adjustable-height office chair that had been relegated to garage-duty. Between the height-adjust and the wide, wheeled base, it was pretty easy to maneuver into position until I could get it loosely bolted into place.

Just be sure to secure it to the chair, the butt-shaped, cushioned area can easily deform in unexpected ways allowing the bumper to roll off, probably at the worst possible moment (ask me how I almost dropped a new $600+ bumper on the concrete).

I just bought a set and carried them around, they are heavy but not heavy to where they can't be moved by one person. You can take the tip extensions off to make it a little lighter when installing and put them back on, but I guess it depends on how you plan to plastidip them. Going to install mine soon.

Shouldn't be an issue. I can remove my ACE engineering mid width bumper by myself with no issues, and the 10A bumpers are lighter.

I installed Hard Rock bumpers on my Sahara by myself, and removed and reinstalled the front by myself when I put the winch on. They're not that heavy.
