We bought out 2000 model Sport, in June, to used as a hunting rig.
After 12 years it was time for the original top to go. White wrangler with a white factory soft top.
I decided for a little over $300 I was going to try the Quadratec top. A quick phone call later I had my top was on the way, for $329, and free shipping, just for mentioning the Wrangler Forum. We decided we wanted clear windows and we have half doors.
I ordered on Monday and the top was here Thursday. I was impressed that the whole top could fit in such a small box. After opening the box and removing the contents, we spread everything out, so it could relax before installing the top.
Installing the door skins went alot easier than I expected. Just remember to unzip the windows. But they took a little massaging and working to get them on smoothly and the seams in the right locations. While pretty tight, putting the top deck went on was pretty easy as well. It also had to be pulled, worked, and massaged a little to get it all in place.
I was very surprised how much better new zippers worked than 12 year old ones. The windows went right in. However, the curves on the back window took a little time to work around.
After installation we took a little test drive and noticed a whistling noise. I had to work the rubber door seal on the upper right side of the passenger door. The whistling stopped. It appears to be a matter of adjusting the door skin on the frame to change the position of the seal.
It seems to be about the same as the old top with maybe just a little more noise from the top vibration.
The instructions say the windows will flatten out after the top has been on a while. I hope so. The rear and back side windows are definately not flat or smooth.
All in all I think it was the best route for us to go. The top is more of a use only when necssary item for us.
If it were a daily driver and primary vehicle I may have done differently but for us the difference in the money just made sense.
I don't have anything to compare this top to, but I highly recommend it based on what I have seen.
