This is my first Jeep so I am not used to how they should sound, but every time I step on and release the clutch, step on and release the brakes, shift gears, hit bumps, etc... it squeaks. It just started over the weekend. My Jeep only has 2,300 miles on it. Is this a normal noise that I should expect and get used to or should I take it to the dealership and have them take a look at it?

Hmm I guess I should take it up then. This is the third time in less than 2,300 miles. 1st time the turn signal switch was bad at about 50 miles 2nd Rotors warped about 1000 miles, had not driven on any hills, now this. I think I got a bad Jeep:(

My 05 has 23,000 miles on it. I just got back from the dealership for a clutch squeak (in and out) and a clutch chatter in 1st and reverse going up hills. I figured it was ok, but trans was just replaced so I wanted to make sure everything was A O-K.

Long story short, 2 dealers both said it was ok. Said the clutch was just noise from wear and wouldnt bother with it untill it starts slipping, and the squeak was just a squeak. Cars and trucks make noise, plain and simple. You think your jeeps bad, drive a 40s Ford pick up :p

I would take it in when its convient, just to have the noises documented, but do not expect anything to be fixed untill something actually breaks.

I figured out what it was. It was my side steps. I guess they were too tight against the bushings and they were squeaking. I loosened them up and the driverside is fine but the passenger side still squeaks. I guess I will have to deal with it until I can find a torque wrench to use, or take them off all together. I really don't need them at the moment, just there for looks.

Thats interesting. I think I am gonna get a grease gun, and some grease today and lube up the suspension. Jeeps at 23,000k and I doubt its ever been greased.

What kind of grease should I use on the zerk fitting? Just any regular old zerk fitting grease?

Think I am gonna take my side steps off my Rubi today too.. got in the way last time I was wheeling. High centered coming over a crest on it :p
