I'm studing for my tech liscence, and was wondering how much of the info I have to learn (for the exam) will be apllicable to my needs. My needs are simple, ham in the Jeep for communication (emergency and recreation), and possibly evolving over time. Seems like a lot of info really would not apply to me, and would just need to be learned for the test and then forgotten.
Thanks

I've been surprised how much of it has been relevant in researching setups for my house and the Jeep, and listening in on the weekly nets here.

How many microfarads are 1,000,000 picofarads?
This is the kind of thing I am reffering to.
Granted, it is not difficult, just useless.

Some of the info is useful, like rules and regulations. Learning about propagation can help you realize what problems you might be having with antennas. If you decide to go for a higher license, you will need to build on this knowledge.
