From what I've heard... If I'm going to be running trails and have some bigger tires on my jeep (33+) then one of my first upgrades should be the rear axle. As I understand it, the rear axle is a Dana 35 and because of the shaft dimensions is to weak.. so it should be replaced with 1 of 2 options. Either the Dana 44 or 8.8...

This thread has been posted for 2 reasons.. one to check to make sure my information is correct. two. to ask what vehicles carry which axles or where should I go to buy one.

either the 44 or 8.8 or 9" is a good swap.. 8.8 in mine.. can be found in ford explorers 95ish to 2000 ish... and mountainers. Does need welding workdone.. with the stock shafts 35 locked is not an issue.
