Is the 93 I6 rear main seal a 1 piece or do you need to drop the pan with a rope seal? I know I can call the parts house tomorrow but would just like to know.

It's a two piece seal. So you have to drop the pan loosen main caps and all that. I did it all on my back and come to find out it was my dang valve cover gasket that was leaking off the back side of the motor. Durr haha

The rear main seal is a two piece seal. You need to drop the oil pan to get access. The job is not really that hard to do. I used to have a link that I referenced for everyone but the url is no longer good. There are several write ups on the web that can help you out though. Took me about 2 hours and a couple of beers to do the job in my driveway. Good luck.

I know it goes without saying, but make sure it is a rear main leak, these motors are know for leaking at the back of the valve cover and impersonating a rear main leak.
