I didn't dip, but I did just finish repainting them. I used a heat gun to remove what little paint was left, sanded, primered, and rattle-canned some Duplicolor Chrysler black. Look much better. Maybe should've hit with some clearcoat, but I only had one day to work on them.
I repainted the ones on my 99. I used a wire wheel to remove all the chipped coating and corrosion, then put on several coats of flat black, then clear coat. They turned out great, and 5 months later, they still look great.
