Another JL forum is abuzz with revelations that tomorrow opens up ordering for redesigned JL, to be designated a 2024 model year.

I haven't personally seen any links to an official announcement, but a CDJR salesperson claims Stellantis held an internal online presentation today.

Among the changes/updates I've been able to gather:
  • An all-new digital instrument cluster
  • A larger screen with Uconnect 5
  • Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Optional power and ventilated seats
  • 392 will come standard with 35-inch tires and 4.88 gearing
  • There might be a fully electric version
  • The new grille shown on the 2023 Rubicon 20th Anniversary might become standard on certain trim levels
I'm sure we can be certain prices will go up across the board, yet again.

The grill change I was expecting as well as the price increase for more gadgetry I don’t care about.

I’ve been struggling with the ongoing shift from analog gauges to fully digitized instrument screens.

Instrumentation used to give automakers the opportunity to impress. The outgoing Chrysler 300 has one of the most impressive instruments IMO. 2018-2023 JL’s instruments wasn’t bad either.

The info I saw last night was that ALL 392 Wranglers will now come standard with the 35” tire Xtreme Recon Package with 4.56 gears and possibly a D60 rear diff for towing. In Canada that will put them well over the $120k mark. The 2023 392 starts at $110k here.

While a 3/4 ton D60 would be nice, I'd rather see a one ton option (full float) with a D60 up front. THAT would tempting, factory 1 ton V8 Wrangler, heck yes!
(yes, I know the odds of that happening are slim - none) :)

I am on the fence about the grille, I have no use for power/ventilated seats and, like I said, I really don’t want a fully digitized display.

The reality is that everything that really counts, what’s under the hood, the floor pan and the wheel wells is going to remain mostly carryover.

Judging by the reactions on Bronco6G, it would appear these changes to JL are mostly to impress those who bought a Bronco, or are considering buying one.

Oh would you look at that… Jeep just out pricing all us common folk. Any upgrade to the 392 was just so Jeep can line their own pockets more. That same hemi in a ram can be had in the high 30s. No way is a hemi in an suv worth double a hemi in a truck. This update isn’t for 99% of people. That new sport 4xe will no doubt be over 50k get real about making an electric vehicle more affordable. Jeep making it more and more likely I won’t buy another one, not because I don’t want one but because I can’t afford one.

Yes. But it only looks squatty. If you notice there's a black molding extending at the bottom of the grille. Jeep didn't change the grille's mounting points.

Hmm.. I didnt mind at first, but the more I look, the less I like it..

Reminds me too much of this:

Which may be fine.. if you like that look.

Just not "Wranglery" enough for me. (IMO).

YMMV

The all-new 2024 Mustang eschews all the gauges for a giant screen. I doubt JL's will be as big, but similar in concept.

Better get as long of an extended warranty as you can. Replacing that panel will be huge money.
