Hello everybody, so I have a 2001 4cyl manual that i want to lift 2" and put 32s on. I'm not planning on running anything bigger than that because I only have a D35 in the back... But my question is what is the best gear ratio for that setup?
You should be just fine. My sisters bf has a 2000 4cl manual with 33" tires on it and no re-gear. his max speed is about 70mph if thats what you're worried about. Hope that helped ya
Personally I think it would be a waste of money to get it re-geared for 32's. Theres plenty of things that the $800-$1000 re-gear cash could get you. Plus you should still be able to go 70-75 mph with stock gears
As long as you're ready to take a decent top speed hit. With a 3.07 ratio I have no experience, but the I-6 should be able to handle the 31's just fine
Your TJ already has 4.11 and there's not enough difference between that ratio and 4.56 to warrant the $1100 or so it'll cost to regear to 4.56. For 33" tires, 4.88 is ideal for the four-banger engine but I'd just leave things as they are with 32" tires and wait until you install 33" tires to make the jump to 4.88 which will then be worth the $1100.
