This. If you do pretzel your stock tie rod, it is a common trick to straighten it as best you can, then slip a Hi-Lift jack handle over it to keep it from re-bending while you get off the trail (but then you replace it immediately).
To recap: when you come upon this
... and you decide to drive up it
... and this happens
... you have to do this
... and then put it back on like this
... and then drive out very cautiously. Any questions?
