Have Bilstein 5100's. Valve body down.

Any harm in running without the shock boots? I realize there is a little protection there from the elements.

In most cases it's better without the boots.

The boots usually only trap dirt and moisture behind them.
^x2 I've seen this on the road and in the factory where I work. All boots do is trap dirt, dust, moisture, and everything else that is bad for the rod. The rod is a polished shaft that if it gets nicked or scratched will start to mess with the seal and wreck the shock.

Do you also agree with this for shocks that are valve body down as with Bilsteins?

I see most shocks (not all) viewed during a Google image search without boots are valve body up. No boots on the big buck Metalcloak 6 pack shocks. That should be telling me something.

Hope so as I cut them off tonight. Didn't like the color anyways and got tired of seeing them bunched up.
