Hi
I have a 2008 Wrangler X. Recently got my O2 sensor replaced. The mechanic said to take it back in about a month, forget what they said for. It's been a few months later and my check engine light is on, and I'm pretty sure it's because I didn't go back and get the sensor reset, or whatever they wanted me to do.

Is there a way I can do this myself without having to go back to the mechanic?

Swing by an auto parts store and see if you can borrow a code reader or have them come out and clear the code.
Once it's reset it should stay off. If it comes back on, take it back to the mechanic and have him do a reset

it'll be better to scan the code to see at least what is it that the light is complaining about, then take the decision to clear it :).

If there was no light when you left the shop, and then the light came up months after the visit, something is tripping that light, it might be related to the original condition, or something new, just get it scanned and see what it is first.
