Spent a week in the Ocala National Forest with our ´16 JKU. Drove about 350 miles maybe 70 of them really off road (much more if you include improved gravel Forest Road as off road). Averaged about 17.5 MPG (calculated).
Stayed in Crescent City one night and at Welaka Lodge and Resort the rest of the trip. Thoroughly drove the area around Lake George as well as spent a day on a Pontoon Boat. It was Bike week so we had plenty of company in the bars but saw very few people off road.
Here are a few pics out of hundreds that we took:
Jeep and Crew (i am in the middle)
Glamour Shot
Miles and miles of sugar sand
View from our deck at sunset over the St John´s river
On the bow of the pontoon boat in Salt Springs run
Ospreys ruled the area
View from the Fort Gates Ferry
A very large fellow sharing the trail with us
Berm where we dragged a bit going over
Back on road but time for a last beer in a biker bar in Umatilla
Google map showing various places we thought were worth going back to including bars, restaurants, lodging and off road sites
So, a great time was had by all. We put the jeep in 4 low one time, bounced on our belly plate one time, drove sugar sand with impunity and backed out of water/mud when it got up to the axles a couple of times.
We are looking forward to our next outing and will probably explore the southwest area of the Ocala National Forest next.
