So I just installed my new 59in Rigid lightbar, and it makes my trektop nx rattle and shake alot. I have a jk unlimited. If anyone has any ideas of how to reduce the buffeting that would be great.

Look into wind deflectors similar to the ones you can get for roof racks. Here is the Garvin Wind Deflector for reference. I don't know if you'd be able to get away with some foam between the light bar and the windshield frame or if you'd need a solid deflector piece. You'll have to try a few different styles. I hear ya, it even helps slap the side windows against the bow more after installing. I crack my windows when I get too focused on it or turn up the radio.

I had wondered if buying a few more of the fin silencers would help but never tried it.

You come up with a solution, let me know.

Try adjusting the light bar. Adjusting upward in small increments does change the airflow a little. I also folded a towel and put it between the sound bar and the top, it helped quite a bit. As for the side windows, neoprene pipe wrap on the bow the goes up the window, then go to Walmart and get 4 sheepskin seatbelt pads and wrap those around the pipe wrap. 2 pads end to end on each side. And Voila! A tolerable noise level at highway speeds.

I've tilted it upwards and noticed a improvement.

Right now it's not a issue, cause I'm topless for the season. But we are heading out to Moab in aug and would like to get the buffering somewhat under control. I just might turn the light bar downward , 45*s. Just for the long drive across Kansas and beginning of Colorado.

That is neat! Is it fiberglass? How difficult is it to re-clamp the freedom top down with the added tension of the Top Prop?
My understanding it is Fiberglas... And they have a PDF on their site for installing it.

I don't see why you would need this with Freedom Tops

Whoops, my bad. I meant the Sunrider top. Not the Freedom top.

Any updates? We have the same issue. 50 inch light bar with soft top, flaps like crazy on highway speeds with everything closed up. Cracking the windows silences everything, but would like to find a fix.

Let us know how it works. I have heard good and bad things about the wind deflectors. I have heard it works well when topless, keeps the wind out of the cabin, but I have heard it causes additional flapping when the top is up. If it works for you, I may just give it a shot.

I am going to order this weekend. I ll have to figure out a way to mount It to test I at different positions.

We just did a road trip to Dallas with our light bar and premium soft top. About 650 miles round-trip. We found that if you turn off the climate control, turn off the recirculation, and turn the fan all the way up, the flapping goes away. It was as loud as being in a jet, since we were driving between 75 and 80, but there was no flapping.

I'm going to say the top prop that is in that picture would be the best solution because it keeps the top tight. We use something similar in our dump trailers to keep water off the tarp.

I just switched my 50" for another brand - its the in house brand for Desert Rat. They added small sections of rubber heater hose to the fins to eliminate the whislte. I also noticed at freeway speeds the wid noise is greatly reduced. The design of the fins and the sloped angle is different from the first light.
